MAKING OF YOU SPELL DANGER
Based off the song created by Sangbuma and Artemis O., You Spell Danger is a cinematic blend of the blues and romance told through the lens of an Italian couple living in New York City.
The couple with many secrets, unresolved issues, and unawareness of the hurt one is causing to another leads us to an evening with them displaying their various highs and lows. This story is told through the soundtrack, picture, body language, and dialogue, which all act as one and feed off each other. Emotion is everything in this film-from the moody atmosphere and on-screen actions to the jazzy undertones and bold lyrics. Every element is stylized, enhancing the storytelling. The goal of this film was to create images as expressions of this artistic vision rather than simply documenting reality, which is why the translation from a musical piece to film really transcended the emotion of this film. This film was shot in Brooklyn and Manhattan, New York City, with cinematography by David Cavallo and directed by Sangbuma Fofung.
This visual is an introduction to what can be created with limited, yet essential resources and a very strong passion for a project.
